The People of Mul-Baiyer-Lumusa

The inhabitants of Mul-Baiyer-Lumusa are of Melanesian descent and have a short written history.

Most of the available literature relate migrations from the Engan and Southern Highlands side.

They live predominantly subsistence lifestyle.

The first contact with the outside word was around the 1930s when Australian patrol officers set their work in Mt. Hagen followed by the Roman Catholic missionaries.

Up to this day, people still live in tribal hamlets governed through the Provincial and Local Level Government system.
